Firepunk Takes The 3-Second Duster To Bama Outlaws

Running the Radial Outlaws circuit, Firepunk Diesel lugged its record-holding Cummins-powered Duster down to Steele, Alabama to compete in Radial Vs. the World at the Bama Outlaws event. There, things didn’t go as planned, but the team did record a sub-1-second 60-foot and (hopefully) solved its driveshaft issues. On one fateful pass, the car chucked its carbon fiber driveshaft for the third time, this time even bending the car’s wishbone. Luckily, good friends in Alex Arquette, Michael Brown, Ross Chandler, and Tim Turner played a hand in getting the Firepunk team a new, 36-inch carbon fiber drive shaft just in time for Q3. There, the car blew the tires off on the 1-2 shift and lockup coming in, but not before grabbing a 0.991-second 60-foot.

Kenny Bruner Uses Licensing Passes To Prep For UCC 2026

It’s a good thing Kenny Bruner found out his NHRA competition license was expired before hauling all the way out to Ultimate Callout Challenge. The 2024 UCC champion headed to his hometown track of Sonoma Raceway last week to regain his license, and the bright orange, 5-second third-gen Cummins didn’t disappoint. Despite turning the truck down for the licensing passes, Kenny still managed a slew of 5.50s, including a new personal best quarter-mile of 8.44 at 167 mph while running it out the back door… After taking the year off in 2025, will Kenny return to the UCC winner’s circle in 2026? With consistent low 5’s in the eighth-mile, 3,000 hp on the chassis dyno, and a strong performance in the sled pull, anything is possible.

6.7L Ford PSA: Inspect Every Part Before Bolting It In Place

Power Stroke Enginuities’ Dorian Reyna released a public service announcement every service shop and repair facility needs to see. His message: just because it’s a brand new part (even OEM) doesn’t mean it’s fit for installation right out of the box. Reyna then proceeds to produce a brand-new Ford replacement upper oil pan for the 6.7L Power Stroke with grass shavings scattered throughout—along with what looks like sand in the oil pickup… “Little stuff like this keeps happening,” he said. And when it does happen, “it pushes that job back—and the jobs that are lined up [behind it] back.” Moral of the story: be patient and considerate if something like this happens to your truck, as the shop performing your work wants to make sure you get the best parts and the best result possible.

A 7.3L Swap With Minimal Mods—And 13-Second Quarter-Miles

It’s not just Cummins and Duramax mills that catch the eye of diesel swappers. Sometimes it’s the guy on a tight budget looking for the perfect engine—and they don’t come much cheaper to obtain than a core 7.3L Power Stroke. Look no further than the classic wagon repower Builds N Burnouts did. Bigger injectors, a fuel bowl delete and fuel distribution lines from CNC Fabrication, a turbo upgrade (along with custom fabricated intercooler piping), and a host of other goodies helped send this Pontiac Catalina station wagon through the quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds. Not bad for a classic, drag ‘n drive candidate that’s sure to grab everyone’s attention.

An Internal Combustion (Hybrid) Engine With 48-Percent Peak Thermal Efficiency

Is Geely Auto’s new generation BHE series engine the most fuel efficient ever mass produced? With a 48.41-percent peak thermal efficiency combustion engine it just might be. To get there, Geely’s hybrid “Fire Tornado” combustion system has been revised, and nearly perfected. The 15.5:1 compression power plant utilizes a duckbill air intake, a 1.39 stroke to bore ratio, 500 bar (7,251 psi) peak injection pressure, a 150 jM ignition system, and Miller valve timing. The other key piece of the puzzle is friction, or lack thereof. Friction losses on the latest rendition have been reduced an incredible 16.3-percent thanks to precision grinding and polishing, along with DLC coatings and low viscosity engine oil being employed.
