Over the weekend at the Bluegrass Truck Jam Outlaw Diesel Super Series event, we saw a new fastest pass in diesel from racer Michael Cordova. In his Cummins powered rail, Cordova made a 3.79 second pass at 209 mph in the 1/8th mile. A time and speed that obliterated the previous record he set weeks before of 3.83 seconds at 203 mph. To only scratch the surface of the build, Cordova’s rail features a MoTech controlled Freedom Racing Billet Aluminum Cummins powerplant with a single turbo and a sizeable nitrous system. What’s equally impressive, if not even more so, Cordova also clicked off a 0.000 reaction time that same weekend. We hope to see Cordova beat his record yet again at our very own hosted Outlaw Diesel Super Series event coming up September 20th-21st in New Alexandria, PA, The SPE Outlaw Finals.
The Supreme Court recently voted to end the Chevron deference. What does that mean for Automotive enthusiasts and Americans in general? Well first let’s talk about what the Chevron deference was designed to do and how it was used, in our eyes at least. The Chevron deference allowed certain federal agencies to decide what certain laws mean. Laws very often have ambiguous statements that are up for interpretation. Therefore it allowed these federal entities to define any ambiguities in the law as they determined was correct. Something that was generally up to the courts to decide. The problem being many of these rules greatly affected commerce and the way of life for many Americans. The Chevron deference impacted just about every industry in the US from medical to food production, car culture, and more.
Getting back to what this means for automotive enthusiasts more specifically, we’ll speculate, but unfortunately this remains to be seen. Many experts believe this will remove some of the restrictions in place stopping enthusiasts from using their vehicles in the way they want to, such as purpose built race cars. In the end the ruling should put the power back in the hands of the general public and the judicial system. Being an automotive enthusiast might have just gotten a lot easier and more enjoyable.

According to an article from autoblog.com (and confirmed by us) there’s been a recent rise in costs of new 2025 Mustangs with premium options such as the GT and Dark Horse. These increases range from $2000 to $4000 plus, depending on the options. Long story short, save your pennies, it’s going to cost a bit more to get that new 2025 GT.
Ed Iskenderian, legendary camshaft innovator and owner of Isky Racing Cams celebrated his 103rd birthday this Tuesday the 23rd in Southern California. Responsible for many innovations in camshaft design, many speed records, and so much more, the racing industry owes a lot to Ed “Isky”. Happy Birthday to the “Camfather”.

Starting in 2026 the Ford plant in Ontario Canada will not be producing EV’s as previously planned. So whats the new plan? Super Duty’s. This comes from a switch in Ford’s EV long term direction. Ford also mentioned a move to “multi-energy technology” for the new Super Duty’s, although they did not give much more info than that. Some of our sources at other OEM’s tell us to be on the lookout for hydrogen as a big player in the automotive space. Could that be the direction? Not quite yet we don't think. We assume, like the MotorTrend article points to as well, that this means a diverse offering in powerplants will be available.

On Tuesday 7/23/24 the Force family reported that Funny Car legend John Force was released from the hospital after receiving a traumatic brain injury in a crash at 302 mph, over 30-days ago. Force will reportedly work with therapists on an outpatient basis to further his recovery.
