The factory CP4 pump on the 6.7 Powerstroke has a reputation — and not a good one. The SPE Motorsport CP3 Conversion Kit was built from the ground up to eliminate those issues while keeping vital engine systems fully operational.
Unlike other pump setups, our conversion doesn’t suffer from timing issues or excessive load on the crank gear. That means less stress, fewer headaches, and better long-term durability — especially important for hard-use applications. The last thing you want is a catastrophic engine failure caused by the crank gear slipping. When that happens, the cost of a fuel system will seem cheap. We address this by moving the pump drive load to the snout of the crankshaft so it is no longer being driven by an interference-fit timing gear. The slipping timing gear problem on the 6.7 needed to be addressed and fixed, not made worse.
We reengineered the fuel system by relocating the pump out of the engine valley and driving it with a properly ratioed pulley and serpentine belt. This improves accessibility and significantly reduces installation time. For decades, PTO pumps, compressors, and auxiliary fuel pumps have been driven by serpentine belts on diesel engines. The 8-rib belts used in this system are more than capable of handling the load. This design has already been proven across millions of miles and countless applications.
