The valve body is stout. It performs solid, exactly as advertised. Maybe too solid for my liking though as a daily deiver. The installation was straight forward and easy. You dont need the seal kit that everyone keeps talking about. I reused all of the old OEM seals and o-rings and have zero leaks or pump psi pressure drop (verified in logging). The VB and solenoid ID update was simple with Forscan. My beef is even after clearing the old "adaptive transmission shift tables" it still has very abrupt shift strategies. Particularly the 2-3 upshift, and the 5-6 upshift and 6-5 downshift are absurdly harsh. IMO it shifts just as notchy as my old canned H&S TCM tune. The thermal cooling logic is over the top IMO. Even when I flog it for 15-20 mins of driving, it will peak at 138 and quickly drop back down to the mid 120s. It's my understanding that Merc LV needs to run hotter then that flow efficiently anf burn off any h20 condensation. Pros: it works good, maybe too good. Cons: it's not smooth for a daily driver by any means. IMO....SPE should offer TCM tuning to tame it down.

Holding all the gears now

Installing the valve body was straightforward. The new body came with some of the seals, but the "O" rings and a few other seals are needed if you want to replace all the seals with a fresh set. You will need the extended version of Forscan to program the new valve body strategy into the TCM. Other than that, the truck shifts as it should now, and the temps decreased significantly.

Hands down a great upgrade! I don’t know how these aren’t sold out will definitely be buying more of them for my customers trucks!!! 80 degrees out coolant temps running 180 and trans temp is now running 125-130!!!!

Installed on my 2011 6.7 about a week ago and has fixed every issue I was experiencing. I had hard/delayed shifts into reverse as well as 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 4th to 5th, and 6th to 5th. This solenoid body fixed it. Shifts better than new. And trans temps went from 185 - 20 down to 130 - 145. Would recommend to anyone

As with other reviewers, my truck was had an extremely hard upshift from 1st to 2nd, and then a very hard downshift from 5th to 4th, like if you had a drink or anything in your hand, better have a good grip cause it's going flying out. I had several mechanics tell me it needed a whole new transmission. After me and a buddy researching the issue and reading all the reviews, I figured I'd give this valve body a try. When it came in I made an appointment at a diesel mechanic shop and dropped the truck and valve body off. A few days later, the mechanic had it installed and told me he drove it up the road and the truck was still doing the same exact thing and recommended a transmission. I went and picked it up ,hoping it just needed time to relearn. The first 10 miles of driving, it done alot of crazy shifting, I kept pulling over and restarting it. After around 10 miles, I pulled out again and it finally relearned and started working and shifting perfectly..it's been a few days now of driving it all day for work and it's still performing flawlessly. It just needed a little longer to relearn. Id highly recommend this to anyone having shifting issues. Shipping from SPE was amazing, received it in 2 days.

The valve body I purchased from spe not inly fixed all my shift issues and i mean fixed 100% it also runs 50-65 degrees cooler also making my oil run cooler if u have any question of buying this im telling u this is the best product i have ever bought for my truck and also from spe i dont have enough words for how happy i am with my truck now and i never ever right reviews but had to with the difference this made and just to clarify my truck had erratic up shifts and also down shifts and this part fixed every problem there was
Jerry W.
Was worried my transmission was toast. hard slam on the descent from 3 to 2 and on the up shift from 1 to 2. I’ve already replaced one transmission on my truck and in hindsight, this was probably the problem before as well. Luckily I still have the other trans. If I ever find somewhere to use it, I’ll probably buy another valve body and that one will probably work like new again as well! Barely had any learning to do after install and solenoid strategy programming with Forscan. I was really nervous about that part but the Forscan software through Ford was only $12 for a year and it was very easy. Shifts great, better than ever!
Vance T.
Definitely fixed my hard shift into 2 and 6. Still need to get it out and do a proper relearn to see if it gets rid of the flare going from 3 to 4.
Vern R.
From purchase to sending the core return was seamless and easy.

Shift issue on my 17 6.7 is now gone. Shifts crisp very happy with product. Took about a week to re learn. Only tip to someone who’s doing it themselves is to make sure the gaskets get swapped over that need to be swapped.
Omar D.
Was able to install this valve body without great difficulty. Truck shift as if it was new. (No more hard 2nd gear shift)
Roy Q.
My dealer said the transmission needed replacement due to a flare and hard downshift in and out of 4th gear. I instead chose to install this valve body and it has solved the shifting issues and has my transmission running nice and cool. I only wish SPE sold the seal kit to go with this product as a complete solution. I'd recommend this product to others.
Nicholas M.
Installed in my truck, very easy to program using Forscan! Ran through the relearn process and works perfectly, totally eliminated the 2nd to 3rd flare up!
Dan S.
12' f250 had flair shift from 3-4 . Hard down shifts. Installed this valve body . Used forscan to program TCM and was back to getting better shifts and mpg. Thanks spe for a great product.... And trans runs much cooler now too ...
Ben N.
Shifts consistent and runs 50degrees cooler
Randy A.
I have to admit, I was very skeptical at first didn’t notice much of a difference, Other than the shift into 6th gear was definitely a firm shaft, and the temperature is more than a 50° cooler difference. That being said, I don’t have much time driving in the vehicle after the install, but I am pleased with the valve body and SPE.

Finally installed this after about a year. Definitely lowers trans temp. Used to run about 186 when not towing and a little higher when towing. Now runs about 135 when not towing and not much more when towing locally. Fixed one shift issue but not a couple of others. Trans used to bang hard on downshift from 6th to 5th after driving 60-70 mph for about 1/2 hr steady. Haven't noticed it doing that anymore. However, It still will sometimes not go into reverse immediately after driving for 20+ minutes or longer. When you pull in somewhere and stop and select reverse about 50% of the time it will just set there for 3-4 seconds and then go into reverse? If you stop and go to Park and then back to reverse it will go right into reverse. I can live with that one. The other one is if you drive 30 min+ and the engine is good and warm, if you park the truck and it sets there for 30 min+ heat soaking, when you take off you need to baby it until it shifts into 3rd. If you forget and take off and get on it, it will sometimes "miss" 3rd gear. If it does this you have to kinda let it come back down and back into 2nd and then baby it into 3rd. After that you're good to go and no problems. But overall the lower trans temp should keep the trans running for a lot of miles, and the normal shifts seem to be a little firmer.

Excellent craftsmanship and very simplistic instructions for anyone with moderate mechanical skillset.
Reprogramming went flawlessly but the relearn on this particular valve took a little while, likely due to the many different applications that i use this truck for.
DAN H.
What a difference!! Nearly 80 degree trans temp change. Smooth but firm shifts. Totally fixed my hard and erratic shift problems. We’ll worth the money!!

I decided to install the SPE Solenoid Body for my ‘16 F250 after experiencing some very eradicate shifting issues both heavy hauling and just highway cruising. The shipping and install of the solenoid body is very straight forward and not too difficult (just messy). Reprogramming was easy as well, I utilized my Forscan setup. I’ve pulled my trailer/skid steer on a couple of trips, up some long hill pulls, I find the shifts to be much more precise and smoother. Tranny temps are down, in the 140-160 ranges. If I had one negative thought, the shift into 6th is firm, and I’ll get used to pretty quick. I’m deleted and tuned, pulling 15k lbs. I’m happy with this purchase and many of my other SPE purchases too. Thank you SPE!

Great product, had some shifting problems (flairs and hard shifts) and this new solenoid body fixed all my problems. After install still had some hard shifts ,but after some relearn and a few days of normal driving it shifts perfect. No flair , shifts firm but not harsh. Thank you spe performance
James R.
Does exactly what they say it will do. 6th gear shift is firm with light throttle but doesn’t feel like a dry shift. This photo is from sitting in traffic in 60 degree weather at 5,000 plus feet above sea level. At 75 mph and same altitude roughly I’ve seen 120s to 130s. That a big drop from the usual 199-200 degree temps I’m used to.
Devon S.
Had some flares on downshifts and random shifting problems on my 2013 with 150k miles. Took me about an hour to replace, refill, and upload new strategies using Forscan. I will admit I was skeptical at 1st. Even had local trans shop tell me it wouldn't fix anything and that I was a "youtube mechanic" lol. Shifts are quick and firm as they should be. Shifts are amazing while flat footing. this is a must have as with all SPE products.
Cameron H.
2015 F-250. Trans runs about 130°F now and got rid of my shift flares. The only issue I have is when I shift into 6th at low rpm its pretty dang rough.
Kyle W.
Works perfect... 50 ° temperature drop.
Layne W.
Used forscan to program. Just get an extended license to use the transmission programmer. Programmed solenoid body and strategy number. There’s a YouTube video of how a guy did it. Make sure after install to use forscan and I reset PCM, TCCM and did TCM reset, TCM reset all adaptations and TCM Clear Transmission Adaptive. Tried using EZLynk to reset KAM TCM, just never did anything for me. Kept having shift flares after the install, wouldn’t stay in 3rd and couldn’t find a gear. So far so good after resetting it all with forscan. Only downside has been communication with questions from SPE. Left a voicemail and called multiple times but couldn’t get anyone on the support side. Overall I’m happy with the results.
Jeremy M.
The SPE Valve Body completely solved my odd shifting on my 2015 F250 6.7. Clean crisp shifts every time now through every gear. Pulled my first heavy load with it, and it performed phenomenally. Trans temps never got over 145 while towing, and it stays at about 135ish with normal daily driving. I could not recommend more! Great product.
richard h.
Shifts quicker and a little more firmly like it should.and my tranny temps don’t get above 150,even when towing.
Edward N.
I haven’t gotten the trans above 150 degrees and the shifts are nice and firm!
Joseph P.
I recently installed this with a new mishimoto transmission cooler and even when I push the truck as hard as I can I haven’t seen it too 140°. Shifts much better under power as well. Amazing product and absolutely worth your time.
Jon W.
Had some shift flairing from 3-4 (stuck solenoid). this firmed up all of my shifts as well as kept my trans temp much lower. Shifts perfectly and i recommend this solenoid valve body to everyone.
Matthew R.
Installed the valve body for my 6r140 and it shifts amazing it corrected my harsh shifting issue
Matthew H.
Was having really bad shifting issues. Took this valve body to a very highly reputable transmission builder and he installed it and he was impressed how it improved my transmission handling. It shift firm and no more banging gears while downshifting. I really like spes quality
Travis B.
This was the answer to the shifting complaints I had with my 6r140 transmission. I highly recommend this of you are experiencing any shifting problems.
Jeremiah S.
Shift firm but Dosnt slam now and seams to run cooler
Jeremy B.
Just picked my truck up from trans shop runs great, shifts amazing.
Davin M.
Terrible shift flares and down shifts. No more shift flares and the down shifts are 100 % better. Thanks for saving my transmission. No the truck is a rocket
Nathan H.
I’m a transporter using my 2012 F450 with a 15 turbo that has 320k miles on it. Truck was slipping the clutch a lot under light / medium acceleration and even failed to shift into 3rd gear a lot. I installed this solenoid body at 315k miles and got major temperature and shift improvements! Firm yet smooth shifts now and the engine even runs a bit cooler due to the trans being 50+ degrees cooler. Just order seals with it! Flashing tcm was a breeze with Ford. My trucks back to work!
John V.
I was a bit skeptical at first, but after installing it I wish I would have done this months ago. Shifts are flawless! Awesome upgrade !
Brandon Y.
Its been installed a week. I haven't seen any temperature changes but it does seem to be shifting way better than factory.
Scott C.
Fast shipping and easy install. What a difference it made no more funny shifts or try to start off in the wrong gear. I would recommend to anyone. Thank you spe for great product!!
Ps. Now need some spe decals for the the back window
fred c.
Valve Body made a huge difference, smooth and is firm when it needs to be. Was able to use a snap on scanner to initialize the valve body and did not have to use IDS. all shifts are very good and no flare at all. I am using SPE tuning, currently using the Hot X SOTF ecm and the Street 3rd Gear Lockup on the tcm. very happy with the results.
Sean F.
Install wasn't to bad at all. Results were amazing, transmission shifts firm and quick. Temps stay down incredibly lower. Love it and truck moves great no more flares or anything! Definitely recommended!
Cody K.
Easy to install and trans temps stay around 140°. Probably going to get the trans tunes next!
Thomas R H.
Great product. Highly recommend Did what I was wanting and more. Very happy with it and piece of cake to install. If you purchase this you will not be disappointed. Awesome job SPE
Phillip W.
Love the new valve body
justin t.
Awesome product truck shifts great smooth firm shifts
Jim W.
The product works great. However it is recommended that all seals are replaced but no seals are included. Also if any tuning is installed it will need to be removed before the strategy is programmed.
Marcos O.
Had the valve body installed and what an improvement, tranny is running around 40-45 cooler right not compared to this morning. Its like 36 degrees right now in dallas so we will see when the weather heats up. My shifts where kinda sluggish and now quick and firm.
Edward S.
Had harsh shifting and tried to do relearns and different tuning but nothing changes. So pulled the trigger and what a difference. Also got some tuning along with it and just wow. My trans temp dose t get much over 125* crying down the high way. With a heavy load the most I have seen for temp is 160* I even put a temp gun to the pan and was right on the money with the computer reading. Very happy and impressed
Dillon O.
Part is excellent almost a month from time of purchase to delivery which held a customer vehicle in my shop. That being said a member of the team refunded $100 an expedited the order after another member of the team had let things slip. All that being said great parts but the customer service was lacking through the initial Chanel's
Riley R.
Before i had horrible shift flares, and even what almost felt like slipping. We installed the upgraded valve body from SPE and what a difference it made! Thanks again everyone from SPE and Amy for your customer service
