Check Out Ram’s Factory-Backed Race Truck

Roadkill Nights. Woodward Avenue. Pontiac, Michigan. Primarily sponsored by Dodge. An event where a Cummins-powered 2025 Ram Mega Cab dually on (4) slicks showed up to race and was fully backed by an OEM. The project, which included working with Dave “Heavy D” Sparks from Sparks Motors (also the driver) and PPEI’s Kory Willis, impressed on Woodward. Starting with low 10-second passes through the eighth-mile, the race-ready Ram ended up running 7.40s before the night was over. Full details on the truck’s setup aren’t 100-percent available, but we’re told the engine is stock (aside from ECM tweaks), the emissions equipment is 100-percent in place, plenty of nitrous was on board, and that a bone-stock ZF 8-speed transmission was used (and reportedly had no issues handling the power). Other notables include a four-link rear suspension with coilovers, a gutted interior, and a full roll cage.

Possibly The First Non-VGT 2023-Newer Super Duty?

Is CMB Performance the first company to swap a fixed geometry turbo in place of the VGT on a ‘23+ 6.7L Power Stroke? Last week, a ’23 F-350 rolled out of its facility packing an SPE Emperor Turbo and intake piping kit, complete with Snyder’s high-flowing S370. The truck’s PCM was remote tuned using HP Tuners software while the TCM tuning (not yet available) will have to wait. However, the 1-ton Ford that left the factory making 500 hp at the crank could easily be clearing 650 hp at the wheels now. Not bad for stock fuel…

Going The Extra Mile

Going above and beyond for a customer is a great way to both stay in business and grow your clientele. At Rowdy‘s Automotive, no corner is cut and no stone is left unturned in any repair, no matter how big or small the job is. In this case, a 6.7L Power Stroke owner needed a turbo replacement. During disassembly, owner Brad Helton noticed the grime and soot buildup within intake throttle valve. In less than an hour’s time, he had the valve cleaned up and flowing like new again. In the age of EGR systems, maintaining a clear path into the engine is vital, and the performance gained from this restriction removal could result is added (restored) power and/or improved fuel economy.

Bronco Raptor and 392 Wrangler Here To Stay

In a world where high-performance packages historically don't stick around very long (especially in SUV's), Stellantis and Ford just gave us some great news: The 392 Wrangler and Bronco Raptor are here to stay. Rumor has it, the Gladiator will be getting a V8 for the future, too (we assume Hemi or other, as the 392 was not mentioned here). Performance fans, this is great news. Let's hope this way of thinking will apply to other models (like the F150 Raptor R). Who knows, with the current climate, we may be in for a few years of epic high performance vehicles from the OEM's. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Michiana Auto Mania 2025

The RV Hall of Fame location in Elkhart, Indiana played host to the 2025 rendition of Michiana Auto Mania over the weekend. This year, the all-inclusive car and truck show boasted a burnout pit (and competition), dirt drags, truck pulls, a show ‘n shine, countless custom show vehicles, an onsite chassis dyno, and some of the aftermarket industry’s biggest names. Stainless Diesel showed up in force, with Stephen O’Neal’s tire-frying (and dragstrip-slaying) Cummins-powered S10 “Pinky” and the American Outlaw first-gen (12-valve) monster truck from Merica-TV. As in years past, the Stainless crew was on the scene long before the grounds filled up with vendors, vehicles, and spectators.

Down To The Wire In ODSS

This is what the points chase looks like in ODSS at the present time. With one race left on the calendar, look for the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza to be a barnburner of an event. In particular, the 5.70 Index class is exceptionally tight between Skyler Forness and Ryan Reiser—and with veteran Brett Marcum still within striking distance. As for Chris Naudain, he and his dominant third-gen Cummins will try to sew up both the 6.70 Index and ET Bracket class. In 7.70 Index, former champion Emanuel Yoder will try to hold off the always formidable Dustin Mintern. It all goes down at Wagler Motorsports Park in Lyons, Indiana on August 22-23.
