The time is fast approaching for the spring rendition of Cleeter’s AWD vs RWD race in Florida. Down in Splendora, Texas, Dustin Sterling and the team at Sterling Diesel Performance have been hard at working prepping his 4-second Duramax for another no-prep battle against some of the fastest RWD (and AWD trucks) in America. New parts, dyno time, and Mexico-style testing have been ongoing for weeks, and possible last-minute engine troubles have even entered the picture. Rest assured, we expect the SDP Chevrolet will put on a show once it’s unloaded in Bradenton. If nothing else, the competition will have to earn it if they want to put this truck back on the trailer.

Michael Brown is taking another stab at the UCC crown in 2026, and this may be his biggest year yet. This time, he’s added a transbrake valve body (and fastback shifter) from Sun Coast to his Cornerstone Transmissions-built 48RE. Two weeks before that, Michael took delivery of the Bosch MS 25 stand-alone ECU and PBX 90 that will control his common-rail Cummins this year—along with a pair of Alpha CP3’s from Exergy Performance to replace his dual 14mm pumps. Be on the lookout for this truck in Indy…Michael is pulling out all the stops for a shot at UCC glory this year.

Put this on your calendar: April 17. Ford is reopening the Mustang GTD application window for anyone trying to talk their way into a six-figure stallion. Per FordMuscle, this round of applications is intended to cover the next three years of production, and approved buyers get a Concierge purchase experience. If you need context for how serious GTD is: Ford lists 815 hp, a 202 mph top speed, and a sub-7 Nürburgring résumé (6:52.072).
Good luck writing that application essay. It's a fun process.

Not only is Dante Delaney a U.C.C. ’26 competitor, but (in addition to his 5-second crew cab ’07.5 GMC coined “Tory”) he’s also bringing a Duramax to compete in the Seventy 2 Fast category. Taking advantage of the stoutest factory bottom end ever offered, as well as the highest flowing OEM heads, Dante is swapping an L5P into an ’04 Silverado. The lightweight GMT800 will sport a built 48RE—a transmission he’s very familiar with—and has also received help from Exergy Performance, Dan’s Diesel Performance, FASS, Diesels Unlimited, and John C Garage. Already up and running, expect Dante to start testing his Seventy 2 Fast candidate soon and show up well-prepared in Indy.

Rick Fletes’ Duramax Chevelle is down for a few major updates—and version 2.0 will soon emerge as a whole new animal. Think tube chassis, over a thousand pounds lighter, and new records. All indications are that Rick will stick with the LB7 platform, as well as the 4L80E, and he’s enlisting the help of Fleece Performance Engineering, Exergy Performance, D&P Torque Converters, Sonnax, and Hot Shot’s Secret for the new hot-rod. An EMU Pro-8 stand-alone ECU from ECUMaster, fine-tuned by Hardway Performance, will control the car. It's believed the ’70 Chevelle body (steel) will be retained, as will the 2.91 gear that’s pushed him into the 8.50s in the quarter-mile.
