Brittany Force kicked the NHRA season off in style this weekend at the Gatornationals in Gainesville. Maybe it was the Florida air this time of year, maybe it was luck, or maybe it was fate, but Force set a new all-time eighth-mile trap speed record for Top Fuel. Her relentless, 2.936-second blast through the ‘660 came on the heels of a 0.832-second 60-foot and clocked a sweltering 302.69 mph. That’s right, under 3 seconds to the eighth, and at more than 300 mph. For the full 1,000-foot pass, Force recorded a 3.644 at 334.40 mph.

In a world where triple-turbo setups become more common by the day and compound arrangements are literally everywhere, be a Cody Detwiler. Or just watch to see what Cody Detwiler does next… Fitzgerald Truck Fest 3.0 was already pegged to be a hit with diesel fanatics, but then Detwiler (i.e. “Whistlin’ Diesel”) barged in with his latest distraction. You can’t look away either, can you? We counted 17 turbos visible out front alone. Despite obliterating the clutch in the turbos-on-turbos crew cab Cummins he brought to Tennessee, Detwiler put on one of the more memorable moments in the show’s burnout pit.

First, it debuted online, effectively breaking the Internet right before being shipped out to the SEMA Show. Then it stopped traffic again at the PRI Show in Indianapolis a month later, followed by grabbing Best Engine honors at Lone Star Throwdown in February. Over the weekend, Garret Niss’s gold-plated and custom-engraved third-gen continued racking up trophies. At Fitzgerald Truck Fest 3.0 Garret’s wild, million-dollar(?) Dodge won Best Of Show, Best Interior, and Best Engine. From bumper to bumper, inside and out, Garret’s one-of-a-kind, Firepunk-built ride sports chrome-dipped, 24k gold plated engine, chassis, and interior parts and represents something the diesel industry has never seen before.

After undergoing a host of changes over the past two years, one of the most iconic, four-wheel drive diesel trucks to ever hit the drag strip finally made it back to the track recently. Brian Jelich’s 2000 model year F-350 now sports a Rossler TH400 transmission with a Neal Chance converter, Moser 9-inch axles front and rear, and a nitrous-huffing, Kill Devil Diesel 7.3L Power Stroke. During the truck’s inaugural shakedown passes at Northeast Dragway’s eighth-mile facility, Jelich’s Ford would go 5.80 at 122 mph on a small shot of spray and a conservative launch. Look for him to smash his previous best—a 5.38 at 122 mph ran back in 2022—this summer.
March in the southwest usually means one thing for diesel lovers: the NHRDA’s return to Firebird Motorsport Park in Chandler, Arizona for the Diesels In The Desert spectacle. Despite Friday’s on-track activities being rained out, drag racers came from all across the country to compete—and show-worthy semis turned out in droves for the event’s big-rig Friday night light contest. Other attractions included a chassis dyno onsite and measuring horsepower both days of the affair, and a burnout competition at the conclusion of Day 2. From here, the NHRDA schedule moves to Tulsa, Oklahoma the weekend of May 16-17.

BringATrailer.com is a great place to find some really cool vehicles for sale. This week we've found a few great ones. We'll start with this 1991 Mustang produced by Shelby. It's so rare, it's number 13 of only 65 made. The car is of course, pristine with only 203 miles on the clock, and features a ton of upgrades, fully built by the Shelby American Automotive Club (aka SAAC). Custom paint, custom leather, a roll cage, and so much more, but the engine, the engine's a fun one. The engine is a 5.0L Windsor fitted with a larger 65mm throttle body, GT40 heads, ceramic coated exhaust and Borla mufflers, a high volume fuel pump and underdrive pullies with a performance clutch and LSD to control it all. Flashback to the old days for a second, this combo makes 295 horsepower. Yep, that's all. But in 1991, that was impressive. All in, it's a really cool collector's piece, and the current bid? $80k.
On top of this Mustang, there are several pristine early 2000's and late 1990's era diesels up for grabs with super low mileage. One with less than 25k miles. Fun couple of weeks for auctions!
