Blackbird Pays A Visit To Evadale Raceway

We’ve been keeping tabs on Truck Source Diesel’s Project Blackbird, the billet block, Cummins-powered ’20 F-250 that had its first public unveiling at the PRI Show back in December. Well, the wild, 3,000+ hp creation hit the track for the first time last week—and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, on owner and driver Chris Buhidar’s first-ever pass in the truck, he abandoned his plan of lifting after the 60-foot mark. No 60-foot, ‘330 or 1/8-mile numbers were disclosed, but judging by how well the Alumiduty hooked once Buhidar let go of the button we’d say that IFS front-end is definitely going to pay big dividends.

Chasing 5.70s

Reigning UCC champion and current chassis dyno record holder, Josh McCormack, has big goals for 2026. Among them, he plans to get his ’07 Dodge deep into the 5’s in the 1/8-mile and he’s relying on Forced Inductions for his boost needs. You’ll find this ball bearing, 98mm GTR55 hanging off his exhaust manifold this year. The big snail is externally wastegated (on the manifold) and will be combined with plenty of nitrous (using only the “big” ports pictured here). Josh has set a modest goal of going 5.70s, but many heavy hitters in diesel drag racing believe his setup should be good for at least 5.50s or 5.40s once all the bugs are ironed out.

A Classic Diesel Takes Center Stage In Front Of 400,000 Viewers

A first-gen Cummins on Jay Leno’s Garage? Yep. It happened. And Jay Leno even drove it himself. Built by Tim Stevenson of YouTube’s Decent Garage, the 1991 W250 was completely reworked from top to bottom, yet at the same time retained a factory-like appearance. The 5.9L Cummins, a well-fueled P-pumped 12-valve, was built by Holden Bros. Diesel, and sports a quick-lighting compound turbo arrangement (also pieced together at Holden Bros.). The Cummins is backed by a G56 six-speed manual and the truck reportedly turns out 660 hp and more than 1,500 lb-ft of torque with the Power Driven Diesel AFC Live turned up.

72 Fast Class Prep

It's all coming together for Brooke Lobue. She’ll be competing for a shot at the $70,000 pot in the Seventy 2 Fast class this June, and she’s showing up with a fresh bullet from D&J under the hood of her second-gen. The class-specific transformation of Brooke’s common-rail converted Dodge has received a helping hand from BORE LLC’s Blain Lafferty and Joseph DeCarlo, and the truck has spent considerable time under the knife. Now, her second-gen sports a rear four-link/coil over suspension, a full roll cage, and a much lighter curb overall weight (trying to get down to the 6,000-lb class minimum). Brooke’s feisty Dodge will be making an 1,100-mile trip to Indy in order to compete.

Back To the Streets Adds A Diesel Class

Back to the Streets 2026, an Indiana drag ‘n drive event held this May, has added Wagler Motorsports Park to its list of visits. Fittingly, this means a diesel class has been added to the docket as well. So far, the class particulars are listed as TBD, but if the diesel category remains a Run What Ya Brung type class, expect some interesting oil burners to partake. The Back to the Streets tour kicks off on May 20th at Bunker Hill Dragstrip in Bunker Hill, Indiana. From there the action moves to Terre Haute’s Wabash Valley Dragway on May 21, hits Wagler Motorsports Park on May 22, and journeys to Brown County Dragway on May 23 before heading back to Bunker Hill for the finale on the 24th.

Diesel Is Back In Europe

Stellantis is quietly bringing diesel back to parts of its European lineup—adding (or keeping) diesel options on at least seven passenger cars and vans after previously leaning hard into EVs. The company frames it as a “customer demand” move as EV adoption slows outside major urban centers and price pressure rises (especially versus China-focused EV players). Diesel’s market share in Europe has cratered since Dieselgate (down to single digits in 2025), but Stellantis sees a near-term opening for buyers who still want long-range efficiency and easy road-trip fueling.
