Further details on the Seventy 2 Fast Race in Texas have emerged, and you’re going to like them. First things first, $100,000 in guaranteed cold, hard cash will be awarded to the winner (up from $70K in Indy). Secondly, the runner-up will go home with $25,000 (again, guaranteed). This time however, it will be a 64-truck field, which will certainly make creating a bracket a lot easier—as well as the fact that having half the amount of trucks on hand will make for a smoother, quicker developing show. Oh yeah, entry sales went on sale (the buy-in was $1,500) on June 13th and sold out within an hour and a half… Do yourself a favor and be at the NHRDA World Finals on September 25th.

In an announcement that shocked many, Blake Fitzgerald, owner of Fitzgerald Motorsports Park, released word that the drag strip is closing its doors indefinitely. The news broke on Thursday when Fitzgerald posted a video on social media. The 1/8-mile drag strip facility located in Crossville, Tennessee served as the home of FP Diesel Warz last June (an Outlaw Diesel Super Series race) and was slated to host the 2026 ODSS season finale October 16-17th. What will become of the beloved racing venue that held 10 year’s worth of Rocky Top Diesel Shootouts? We may find out some time in the near future, but as for now Fitzgerald Motorsports Park is no longer open for business.

We never imagined the damage was this extensive when Mattie Graves and the Hollyrock Customs rail broke at the Outlaw Diesel Revenge race. After losing both rear axles during the first round of qualifying in Indy, the rail was remedied in the pits, only to find out the dragster’s TH400 didn’t have First gear in Q2. The twin-turbo, nitrous-eating Duramax-powered dragster went 4.48 at 145 mph during its Q1 pass. While the damage that occurred within the three-speed is extensive, we still hope to see team Hollyrock in the pits, and Mattie Graves behind the wheel, again before the ODSS season concludes.

Ford has another F-150 recall on the board, this time tied to some 2014 trucks that were supposedly repaired under the earlier unexpected-downshift recall. The issue is still the same: the transmission may downshift into first gear without warning because of a PCM software problem. Ford says the fix is another powertrain control module update, performed by dealers at no cost. Affected owners should watch for recall 26S45 notices starting in early July.

Ford’s Pikes Peak program has been on a run lately. After the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck win in 2024 and the Super Mustang Mach-E open class win in 2025, the Mach-E stepped up again in 2026 with the overall victory. Romain Dumas drove it to an 8:18.202, taking both “King of the Mountain” and the Unlimited – Production Based class win. It’s a pretty strong reminder that Ford Racing is taking these demonstrator builds seriously.
