Weekend At Rudy’s

As is so often the case, the Outlaw Diesel Super Series race season kicked off at the Rudy’s Performance Parts’ Spring Truck Jam over the weekend. There, ODSS competitors faced off for the first time in 2026 at storied Rockingham Dragway. Not surprisingly, Brett Marcum made the trek to North Carolina from west Iowa and took home the win in 5.90 Index. In 6.70 Index, Steve Robbins and his third-gen would earn their first ever ODSS victory, while the always dangerous Emanuel Yoder got the win in 7.70 Index. On the blazing fast side of things, both Justin Zeigler and Austin Doidge would both set new personal bests, Zeigler going 4.55 at 170 mph and Doidge putting up a 4.70 at 154 mph.

Fastest EV On Earth

Ford’s electric Mustang Cobra Jet just got very, very serious. The new all-electric Cobra Jet 2200 has reportedly become one of the quickest and fastest EV drag cars ever, running 6.87 seconds at zMAX Dragway. With 2,200 wheel horsepower, a 900-volt dual-motor system, and a purpose-built drag chassis, this isn’t a showroom Mustang with batteries stuffed in it. It’s a full race car built to prove that the next era of performance still comes down to engineering, traction, and going faster than the other lane.

Crazyhorse Attends Nitro Dave's Clash of the Titans

When you beat out the likes of some of the fastest no-prep racers in the land, you’re not only on the map, but you tend to draw a crowd anywhere you go. And when you’re winning with a big, heavy diesel, you quickly become a loved (and sometimes, even hated) celebrity. Such is the case for Nathan Wheeler and his Crazyhorse Ford. The team spent the weekend camped at the Nitrous Outlet booth for Nitro Dave’s Clash Of The Titans race at Xtreme Raceway Park. There, the Cummins-powered Blue Oval was on display for all to see. Thanks to all of Nathan’s success in recent years, in terms of both wins and unmatched self-promotion, he’s put the capabilities of modern age diesel technology on display in front of the masses.

All The Fuel: 8-Cylinder Wimer Pump

Tommy Hassler is at it again. The owner of Bethel, Pennsylvania’s Hassler Diesel Performance is bound and determined to get a Power Stroke to the front of truck pulling’s highest horsepower classes—and this latest addition for his mechanical 7.3L might just do the trick. It’s a billet inline 8-cylinder pump from Wimer Fuel Injection and Turbo. In Cummins applications these exotic pumps are often fitted with 17mm, 18mm, or larger plungers and can deliver torrents of fuel (in a very short timing window). It will find a happy home under the hood of Hassler’s Twisted Addiction puller.

The Latest From Our YouTube Channel: Twin Turbo S650 Intake Testing

There are two kinds of carbon fiber parts: the kind that look good on Instagram, and the kind that make a twin-turbo S650 breathe like it should. In our latest YouTube video we break down why the intake manifold matters on a boosted S650 Mustang. The factory manifold was designed for stock drivability, packaging, and emissions requirements. The SPE carbon fiber manifold was built around high airflow, boost stability, and cylinder-to-cylinder distribution. Check out the testing results.

2026 WCX SAE Congress—And The Future Of Diesel Emissions…

The annual WCX SAE Congress was held in Detroit in mid-April and this year the U.S. EPA’s recent roll back of emissions regulations was a key topic of discussion. Among the items presented on the subject were the de-regulatory actions such as the repeal of GHG emission regulations, the relaxation of CAFE fuel economy standards, the decision to limit California emission regulations, and the relaxation of EPA driver inducement requirements for vehicles with SCR systems. Actions on the horizon were discussed as well, including the delay of light-duty Tier 4 criteria pollutant standards and updates on 2027 heavy-duty engine requirements (namely the relaxation of warranty requirements), a delay of extended useful life durability requirements, and a consideration of nonconformance penalties.
