When it comes to powertrain warranties on heavy-duty pickup trucks, no manufacturer compares to what Ram brings to the table. For 2026, the coverage continues, with the truck maker extending its 10-year limited powertrain warranty another model year. The decade-long new vehicle warranty applies to Ram 2500, 3500, and cab and chassis models, and covers the mechanical components of the vehicle from 10 years from the in-service date or 100,000 miles on the odometer, whichever comes first. Of course, any racing, performance, or non-FCA/Chrysler parts, installed independently, that contribute to needed repairs or adjustments are not covered by the 10-year promise.

Another one of Ford's latest patents sheds light on what is likely to be in our future. Yesterday's Cabs have all but been replaced by today's ridesharing services, such as Uber or Lyft. So it makes perfect sense that cars will be designed specifically for that use, or at least with features that make ridesharing easier. Ford Patent #12511586 appears to be designed for just this reason. The concept uses smart modules to help manage/schedule rides and configure doors, seating position, and other settings/accessories based on the passenger’s assigned seat. It can even show a visual indicator telling you where to sit. As always with patents, you never know the end result, but it’s a clean look at where OEMs are aiming as ride-sharing and robotaxi ideas keep evolving.

Speaking of big payouts… Introducing the average Joe, no-prep racing category… Officially coined the “Blue Collar No Prep Street Diesel Truck Class,” it’s designed to make big money available for the 650hp to 750hp diesel owner who enters their daily driver to compete. According to NHRDA: “No cages, no laggy builds, no sacrificing drivability. This is stoplight racing the way it should be.” The single-elimination (no buy-backs), heads-up (instant green start), no-time class will run the eighth-mile, allow only 2WD vehicles to compete, impose a minimum race weight of 7,000 pounds, permit single turbo setups only, and prohibits the use of drag radials and slicks. Visit NHRDA.com for further details.

Occasional downtime is part of any race program, and one of the heaviest hitters in diesel drag racing is down for a scheduled engine refresh and a few choice valve train upgrades. Part of Nathan Wheeler’s preparation for the annual Cleetus MacFarland AWD Vs. 2WD Shootout includes his deck-plate 6.7L-based Cummins taking a ride to Freedom Racing Engines for a refresh. While there, Freedom’s Chase Fleece plans to perform the valvetrain upgrades necessary to support a 7,000-rpm limiter—so expect the Crazyhorse Ford to sound a little different when it hits the back end of Bradenton Motorsports Park the weekend of April 3rd.

Hot Shot's Secret traveled out to the Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week this past summer, and its top-tier film crew captured the atmosphere perfectly. Hardway Performance’s Ryan Milliken, veteran drag racer and general speed-freak, Rod MacMaster, and even Bill Wendt—owner of the record-setting, 80-inch, “Mighty Mouse” ’47 Crosley pickup—all made the cut. Throughout the documentary, those interviewed help explain the allure of racing (and setting records) on the salt. Covering everything from long waits and quick turnarounds on the infamous dry lakebed to data log reviews and last-minute fixes in the pits—along with the moment of glory, Salt Fever offers a one-of-a-kind look into the culture of Bonneville Speed Week.
