Big Things Coming From The Rowdy's Automotive & Motorsports Camp

Expect big things from our friends at Rowdy's Automotive & Motorsports next season. Not only will Rowdy’s owner, Brad Helton, be campaigning his Snyder Performance Engineering-powered 6.7L Power Stroke Super Duty, but Rowdy’s customer, Steve Robbins, will be running a brand-new, Wagler Competition Products deck-plate 6.7L Cummins in his ’05 Dodge. Steve’s Cummins will be fueled by S&S and backed by a Firepunk Diesel transmission and a Goerend converter. As for Brad’s Ford, it’s getting some roll cage updates and a full-on chassis makeover this winter. Expect both trucks to be serious threats within the ranks of ODSS next season.

The Next Big No-Prep Showdown

Race season might be winding down for northerners, but in the South things are just beginning to heat up. Enter Holland, Texas’s Little River Dragway, which regularly hosts no-prep races on the back-end of its quarter-mile track. Its no-prep contests regularly attract local 4x4 racer, Nathan Wheeler, and his Cummins-swapped Crazyhorse Ford, but on November 29th rumor has it Dustin Sterling and his 4.7-second (1/8-mile Duramax) are coming to town. Look for Dustin and Nathan to take turns beating up on the RWD competition. Classes listed for that Saturday’s eighth-mile race are Small Tire, True Street, and 6.50 Index.

2026 ODSS Race Circuit

The Outlaw Diesel Super Series is returning to a six-event schedule next season, with a new venue being added. The freshest face on the racing circuit will be Edgewater Sports Park in Cleves, Ohio. The event that brings ODSS action back to the Buckeye State will be coined Trucks Unleashed and will go down the weekend of September 18-19. Another change entails Fitzgerald Motorsports Park’s hosting of the season finale October 16-17 in eastern Tennessee. Of course, blockbuster events such as UCC/ODR and the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza remain in their traditional early June and late August time slots.

Ford's Latest Patent: Butt Dial Eliminator (you read that right...)

Watching out for Ford's newly published patents is almost always entertaining. Not entirely sure where this one sits as far as implementation, but it is for sure entertaining. Patent #0337832 is worded fairly specifically at stopping phone calls from being initiated from the phone, when connected to the vehicle's Bluetooth system. More specifically, it's titled "Unintended Phone Call Prevention In Motor Vehicle." FordAuthority called it a butt dial prevention patent, which might actually be the perfect description. These patents have to be looked at with an open mind. What actually could Ford be trying to achieve? First guess would be reducing cell usage in cars for safety reasons, but the patent doesn't render the phone inoperative yet only stops its ability to make calls. So what pushed Ford to file this patent? Only time will tell.

Congrats To Team Dixie Ram

It’s awards season, and Caroline Armistead flat-out dominated the Pro Stock Diesel Truck class within the Mid-South Pullers Association in 2025. Behind the wheel of the “Dixie Ram,” her Scheid Diesel-propelled Cummins grabbed seven wins in a total of 17 hooks, and placed in the Top 5 or better on 13 occasions. Caroline’s championship-winning season kicked off with a bang back in February when she won at the National Farm Machinery Show. Formerly the “Super Ram” driven by longtime puller Rod Tarr, this truck has won several Pro Stock points championships in its time and represents one of the most proven chassis’ in the history of diesel truck pulling.

Mirror Finish 48RE

Who knew a 48RE could look so good! LoganBuilt Transmission & Race Fab owner, Logan Yelton, admitted this is the coolest transmission he’s ever built. The full race four-speed boasts every race part in the book, as well as an SFI case. But on top of being built with a heavy-duty case that won’t crack, it’s been polished to a mirror finish. DieselCraft Performance’s Hesston Wells will be the lucky recipient of the one-of-a-kind 48RE. And no, it’s not going in a show truck. Rather, it will reside in what Hesston hopes will eventually be the fastest 4x4 Quad Cab Ram in existence.
